Frida Kahlo de Rivera ( 1907 � 1954) ; y Calder�was a Mexican painter, born in Coyoac�
Perhaps best known for her self-portraits, Kahlo�s work is remembered for its �pain and passion�, and its intense, vibrant colors. Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.
During her lifetime, Frida created some 200 paintings, drawings and sketches related to her experiences in life, physical and emotional pain and her turbulent relationship with Diego.

Allen N Lehman......... I really do not do many comments but I try to give support to the members of my groups, I am a painter and ceramist, and all my paintings are done on canvas with brushes and spatulas. I enjoy playing with photoshop on some photos taken by me but are not paintings. If I say a traditional medium in the description of my works, is because they are exactly that. When I use a program I declare it in the description. That is my truth and the answer to your question.

Madalena, if you have not seen the 100years exhibit of Frida's work (was in Mexico City 2007) you will not appreciate just what a wonderful painting this is. This captures both Frida and her unique style so beautifully, but it does not at all feel like copying her, more like getting to the essence, and expressing that.
